Each level covers a range of Elo, so the badge alone does not show how close you are to the next one. Your Elo number does.
How much Elo each FACEIT level needs

For example, at 1750 Elo you are Level 8, and one more point takes you to Level 9. If you use a table from another site, check which game it was made for. FACEIT ranges differ between games.
Players often call these levels FACEIT ranks. FACEIT itself has no ranks in that sense, only the ten levels in the table above.
How Elo changes after a match
Your Elo goes up or down after every match. The size of the change depends on how likely your team was to win, so you cannot count every win as the same number of points. Your current Elo and level are shown on your profile and on the matchmaking page. FACEIT's explanation.
To judge progress, compare your Elo after a series of matches rather than counting wins. Before you set the next goal, check how much Elo separates you from the next boundary in the table. That gap shows the distance to the level, not the exact number of matches you need.
Do not confuse Elo with FACEIT Rating. FACEIT Rating is a separate score of a player's contribution to a match, and it takes the context of in-game actions into account. The FACEIT Rating FAQ treats it as distinct from Elo. Rules for one season do not automatically carry over to the next, so check each season's rating changes separately.
What happens after Level 10
Level 10 has no upper Elo limit. Two players with the same badge can have very different ratings, so compare their Elo first.
Challenger is a status held by the 1,000 players in each region with the highest Elo at this level. If you drop out of that group, you lose the status. There is no fixed threshold like "earn N more points". Your position among other players decides it. Challenger rules.
How FACEIT Elo differs from Premier CS Rating and Competitive ranks
FACEIT Elo, Premier CS Rating and Competitive ranks belong to different systems. Before you look up a promotion threshold, check which mode it refers to. Valve's two modes are covered in our guides on how Premier CS Rating works and all Competitive ranks in order.
Do not convert your Elo into a Premier rating with a fan-made conversion table. FACEIT does use Premier rating when it sets a new player's starting Elo, but that does not make the two scales interchangeable. FACEIT describes a separate formula for that step. How FACEIT sets starting Elo.
