Other players commend you during a match, from the scoreboard. To get commended in CS2, be useful to your team: give callouts and don't flame. Commends do affect Trust Factor, but Valve doesn't say how many you need for green trust.
What a commend is in CS2
A commend is a positive mark one player gives another. CS2 has three categories: Friendly, Teacher and Leader. One commend can tick several categories at once.
You can only commend during a match, and only a player who is still on the server. You can't commend yourself. You can commend three players a day. The commend window shows how many you have left, for example "You can commend 3 more players today".
Don't confuse a commend with a +rep comment on Steam. Comments go on a Steam profile wall, while commends live inside CS2.
How to commend a player in CS2
- During the match, open the scoreboard with Tab.
- Right-click to bring up the cursor.
- Click the player's name and choose Commend.
- Tick the categories and confirm.
Commending the same player again doesn't add a new commend. It only changes the categories of the old one. That is why one player can't give you ten commends in a row.
How to see your commends in CS2
Your commends live on your profile card, which opens when you click your avatar in the main menu. There are three counters along its bottom, with a smiley for Friendly, a graduation cap for Teacher and a crown for Leader. Every number there is a count of different players, so one fan can't inflate it. If a category is still at zero, its icon simply isn't shown.
How to get more commends in CS2 the fair way
People commend players who were easy to play with and who helped win. Asking for commends in the last round does less than being useful the whole match.
- Call where the enemies are and how many, briefly and without shouting.
- Talk through the economy and the round plan without insults.
- Show newer players lineups and positions.
Commends happen during the match, so asking for one after you're back in the menu is too late.
Do commends affect Trust Factor?
Yes. A commend is one of the behavior signals CS2 uses to judge an account for Trust Factor. Trust Factor is the hidden score behind matchmaking. High-trust players end up in lobbies with other high-trust players.
Commends and reports pull in opposite directions. Reports from other players lower an account's trust, and commends raise it. Neither decides everything on its own. Valve also looks at time played in CS2 and other Steam games, a linked phone number and your rank. Still, behavior in matches is one of the important signals, and commends tell the system that people like playing with you.
Nobody knows how many commends it takes to raise Trust Factor. Valve publishes neither the weight of commends nor the thresholds for green trust. Any number like "100 commends for green trust" is made up.

Free commend bots: why these sites are dangerous
Sites that promise free CS2 commends ask you to log in through Steam. Some of them show a fake login window. A login, password and Steam Guard code typed into it go straight to scammers, who then take the account and its inventory.
How to check a Steam login window:
- Read the address bar. Only steamcommunity.com or store.steampowered.com will do, and fakes give themselves away with an extra letter or a hyphen. Real "Sign in through Steam" buttons open Steam's own window or send you to steamcommunity.com.
- Drag the login window around. Steam's real pop-up is a separate browser window, so you can pull it anywhere on your screen, while a fake one is part of the page and won't leave it.
- Don't download "commend generators", and don't approve a login in the Steam Guard mobile app that you didn't start.
If you already entered your details on a suspicious site, change your password on the official Steam site or app and click "Deauthorize all other devices" in your Steam Guard settings. Then open steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey. If there is a key you didn't create, revoke it, because scammers use such keys to hijack trades.
How to get a lot of commends fast
The fastest way is CS2 commends on our server. They come from real Steam accounts with avatars, history and no bans, and arrive right inside the match. Every 5 minutes you spend on the server, you get 20 commends in each of the three categories. The first ones show up after about 5 minutes. A pack of 300 gives 300 commends in each category and takes about 1 hour 15 minutes of play. You don't share your password. You can split a pack between several of your accounts, and whatever is left stays on your balance, so you can join the server whenever it suits you.
FAQ
How many times can one player commend you?
Once. A second commend changes the categories of the first one instead of adding a new one. The counter in your profile counts commends from different players.
Can you commend a player after the match?
No. The Commend option exists only on the scoreboard during the match and only for players who are still on the server.
How many players can you commend per day?
Three. CS2 shows how many you have left in the commend window, for example "You can commend 3 more players today".
Can you get banned for boosted commends?
No. Commends on our server come from real Steam accounts through the same commend window as in any match. None of our customers has been banned for commends they received. People actually lose accounts on "free commends" sites, by typing in their login and password.
