Steam card farming means collecting the card drops still available to your account. Start by checking those drops: a large playtime number does not tell you how many cards you can receive.
Check your remaining card drops
Open Badges in Steam and find the game. This page shows your remaining drops. Most games award roughly half a set through play; trading or the Community Market can help complete it. Free-to-play card eligibility depends on in-game purchases. Steam Trading Cards FAQ.
Check games individually. One may still have cards available while another has none. Make that list before choosing a tool or paying for a service.
Why are no cards dropping?
Start with these checks:
- Remaining drops: selling cards you already received does not reset them.
- Tool support: ASF skips games marked as private. That is a rule for ASF, not a description of every farming service.

If your playtime keeps increasing, compare it with the remaining card count. Tracking hours and collecting cards are different goals, even when both involve the same game.
Local farming or a cloud service?
With a local tool, the process runs on your own device. For example, ASF finds eligible games without downloading their game files. You manage the setup and keep the tool running. How ASF works.
A cloud service runs the task on its servers. This suits users who do not want to leave their own computer on. When comparing services, check for a card farming mode specifically: an hours feature alone may not cover your goal.

Choose around your library
A local tool may suit you if you have drops left and want to manage the process yourself. A cloud option may suit you if running the task without your computer matters more. Check the available drops first, then compare costs. Library size alone is not enough to judge the value of farming.
