To check your hours on Steam, open the game in your library and look at the Play Time line. Your profile's Games tab shows the hours for all your games at once. You can hide them from others in your profile's privacy settings.
How to check hours on Steam in the library and on your profile
The library is the quickest place. Click a game in the list on the left, and two lines appear next to the Play button: Play Time, which is all the time you've spent in the game, and Last Played.
Your profile shows hours in two places:
- Recent Activity. The total for the past 2 weeks across all games is at the top, and below it each recent game has its total hours.
- Games, then All Games. This is the whole collection. Next to each title you'll find its total time and the date you last played it, and sorting by playtime puts your most-played games on top.
For the last two weeks only, hover over the game in your library. The little card that pops up has both numbers, two-week and all-time. Dota 2 hours work the same way, through the library or your profile. Dota 2 itself has no total hours counter.
How to check your hours in CS2
To see your hours in CS2, find Counter-Strike 2 in your Steam library or in your profile's Games tab. Steam is the only place to check them. The game shows match stats but not your playtime.
CS:GO hours don't have a separate line. Counter-Strike 2 replaced CS:GO, so the old game's hours are part of the CS2 total. Only the older games keep their own lines: Counter-Strike 1.6, Source and Condition Zero.
How to see another player's hours
Open the player's profile from your friends list or by link and go to the Games tab. It shows the same total time played as yours does. This is how you check a friend's hours, for example the CS2 hours of a new teammate.
If the Games tab is missing or empty, the owner has restricted "Game details". With Friends Only, their friends can see the hours, so add them as a friend. With Private, nobody can. If a game is marked as private, it doesn't appear on the profile at all. There is no official way to see hidden hours. Third-party sites show old snapshots of public data, so they can't tell you the current hours.
How to hide your hours on Steam
To hide your playtime for all games at once:
- Open your profile and click Edit Profile.
- Choose Privacy Settings on the left.
- To hide everything, meaning the game list, achievements and hours, set "Game details" to Friends Only or Private.
- To keep the game list visible and hide only the hours, tick "Always keep my total playtime private even if users can see my game details."
Steam saves the change instantly. To see what strangers see, check your profile from a second account or from a browser where you're not logged in.
To hide one game, use your library. Right-click it, go to Manage and pick Mark as Private. That game vanishes from your profile and from recent activity, hours and all. The option only works while Steam is online. While a game is private, it doesn't drop trading cards. If cards are why you run the game, see our guide to Steam card farming.
What you changed | What other people see |
|---|---|
"Game details" set to Friends Only | Friends see games and hours, nobody else does |
"Game details" set to Private | Nobody sees games or hours |
"Always keep my total playtime private" ticked | The game list is visible, the hours aren't |
One game marked as private | That game is missing from the profile, the rest are visible |
Privacy only hides your hours from others. You always see your own playtime.
Why Steam doesn't show your hours
- Privacy. The profile owner has hidden game details, total playtime or a single game.
- The game was added as a non-Steam game. You can add a game from outside the Steam store to your library, but Steam only adds a shortcut. The game doesn't appear on your profile, and nobody else sees hours for it.
- Offline mode. If you played while Steam was in offline mode, check your hours again once the client is back online.
- Update delay. Your library can be ahead of your profile for a while. Restart the client and look again in a few minutes.
CS2 hours and Trust Factor
In its Trust Factor description, Valve lists time played in Counter-Strike and in other Steam games among the signals it uses to judge an account. Valve doesn't publish how much weight hours carry. CS2 hours are part of the profile our checker looks at. The free profile and Trust Factor check shows your Steam level, account age, friends, library, CS2 hours and comments. All it needs is your profile link.
How to add hours without running the game on your PC
You can rack up hours on our server without running the game yourself. That is cloud Steam hour boosting. The free plan runs one game on one account with no time limit, and your Steam status shows "Free HourBoost - Fastgg.pro" while it runs. Paid plans run up to 32 games at once, including CS2 and Rust. Everything runs on our server, so you can turn your computer off.
