Lifting a mute and a chat ban in CS2 - is it possible?

Back in February 2020 Valve introduced a punishment system for offenders that other players had reported. More than a year has passed and the system is still a prototype: plenty of players collect blocks over invented and unfounded complaints, because the system still does not analyse text chat, let alone voice.

About the CS2 chat ban / mute

The attempt to deal with toxic and unsporting players is commendable, but the execution, true to Valve form as always, leaves a lot to be desired... It is also worth noting that players can turn voice chat with an offender on and off themselves, from the scoreboard (TAB)

How long is a mute?

A chat block, or mute, is an unusual ban for CS2, because you are normally always shown how long the punishment lasts, but not in this case. Valve did not even bother to point players toward putting it right or to explain how to get the block lifted, which is what we will get to shortly. For now:

IMPORTANT: a mute does not expire on its own!

How do I get a voice chat ban lifted?

We have a semi-official statement from the developers that lifting the block simply requires earning XP: playing any modes and raising the level of the CS2 account itself.
But no exact numbers were named, and there is a reason for that: the blocks are not uniform and their length varies a great deal depending on how many reports came in. So here is a set of measures that will speed up getting rid of this unpleasant ban and let you use text and voice chat in game again.

Methods

Experience

Going by the developers' words this is a mandatory criterion, though not the only one that helps you shed the ban, and it should not be neglected: try to play every mode so that you collect the maximum amount of in-game XP each week.

Commend and comment boosting

Comments are still up for debate, but commends (praise in CS2) are one of the most reliable and best solutions there is. If you are set on lifting the mute as soon as possible you cannot do without commends, and you can get them in an entirely legal way, by plain asking through an alt account or a friend. We also recommend collecting commends not only on official CS2 servers but on community ones too.

The simpler and faster option is buying commends. We provide that service, and you can read about it right here. Commends are delivered on our server, so all you need to do is join it and the rest of the process is automated. We can deliver up to 20,000 commends to a single account. Of course you should not count on commends lifting the ban by themselves, but they will definitely help speed the unblock up, and you can picture it as a formula

A block worth 14,000 XP, with a boost of 100 commends, can be cut down to 7,000, and that much can be farmed in an evening.

Steam activity

Steam activity itself does not directly affect how long the block lasts, but we have to mention that picking up a chat mute definitely lowers your trust factor, and lowers it a great deal, so we strongly recommend taking steps to restore your Trust Factor. Playing on a low trust level means playing with cheaters and trolls
